Chaeyoung Lee(Chaeylee), is a media artist and researcher based in Seoul. She holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Art Theory from Hongik University, where she developed a body of work grounded in philosophical inquiries into digital capitalism and posthuman subjectivity. Her key conceptual contribution, the “Infoborg,” theorizes a new form of subjectivity constituted algorithmically through the recursive structuring of emotional, mnemonic, and bodily data. Unlike conventional notions of the cyborg or digital twin, the Infoborg represents a non-material, computational entity—a posthuman subject formed through data circulation and technological interactivity. Chaeylee’s research draws on cybernetics, the biopolitics of information, and Yuk Hui’s technogenesis to critically examine how late capitalism renders human emotion, memory, and corporeality as extractable and programmable units of information. Her media art experiments employ platforms such as Unity, Unreal Engine, and AI generative systems to sensorially articulate the ontology of information-based beings. Currently, Chaeylee is expanding the Infoborg discourse into narrative frameworks, proposing a new aesthetic and theoretical paradigm that interrogates how the meanings of humanity, subjectivity, and life are being reconfigured within digital infrastructures.
